Venser is an artificer from Urborg and one of the new breed of planeswalkers". He is one of the main characters in Time Spiral, Planar Chaos and Future Sight.
Venser was born in Urborg after the Phyrexian Invasion. As an adult, he lived alone in a workshop within the Urborg swamps. Salvaging parts from the remains of Phyrexians left from the Invasion, he built the Ambulator - a teleportation device in the shape of a large throne. Amongst these salvaged remains were two identical Powerstones.
Venser's activities draw the ire of Lord Windgrace, who guards Urborg from all artifice. Escaping Windgrace's wrath, he is guided by the planeswalker Teferi, who is attracted to his latent planeswalking abilities.
Venser is the target of manipulation by the Weaver King. Venser is able to eventually kill him through cunning use of his planeswalking ability in conjuction with his powerstones.
Venser seems to have an attraction to Jhoira, though this feeling is unreturned due to Jhoira's attraction to Jodah).
At the end of Future Sight, Venser is once again left alone and decides to planeswalk off to an unknown destination.
