Clan

A clan is a thread in the Clans forum where groups of members with similar interests can form clans and talk amongst each other. Some clans are open to everyone, others are discriminatory in choosing their members and friends. Many are based around a specific characteristic that all the members have, like clans for Dutch-speaking members, card designers, or LGBT.
Users can only be a member of one clan, although they can befriend any number of others. Formerly, there were also overclans, like the Magic Coffeehouse overclan which could be joined; however, soon after the appointment of nan and Xyre, the Clan rules forbade the creation of overclans, but left two overclans to remain - these overclans are Gaymers, and the Magic Coffeehouse.
Overclans allow users to join them without affecting the users' clan allegiance, and so, in theory, users can be members of more than one "clan".
