[edit] Manual of Style
Hi, iirc you have made some comments across several pages, how the set articles should look like. Could you compile the information and put it into the MTG Salvation Wiki:Manual of Style (or on a project page and link to it)? This way it would be easier to find the information. Oracle of Truth 14:51, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the push, didn't know where I should mention or put that kind of information. I added it to the section you created at the top of "Expansions and sets", then added a ----to create a line breaking it from the information you already placed. I didn't know if the information you previously placed should have a new heading now or not. The information I put in talks directly about Expansions and the sections within them. --GeoMike 16:55, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, looks neat! An using that line is a fine solution. Oracle of Truth 17:00, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Faceless Wanderer's pages
- Hey, geo! Long time no see! (It is I wicked!) I still live, breathe and make weird experiments. I see you now have a picture :D, although last time I remember I was the faceless wanderer ??? I can see that both you and MM are still working a lot in here, and thought I would stop by and waste time on the two of you (copy/paste) this to her if she still needs some good laughs between studying!
- You really shouldn't enshrine me and my past articles like this! They are all past and noone except you are probably defending them anymore! There is only one article that I regret has been deleted, and that is "The sligh principle" What is the point of having a page on sligh as a deck archetype if you cannot find the information about why it became such a thing! It's like if someone in wikipedia made a list of famous towers, and someone wrote an article about how the eifel tower was made, then the article is deleted, but the list is still around! Oh well! I'll be around for some days to answer the two of you should you have anything to say to a crazy evolutionist like me ;P —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flavortext (talk • contribs).
- Welcome back --GeoMike 12:14, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
Mmm... What links here: Simulations... do we want to do anything about them? Some of his pages still remain, and some of them seem like "original research", as Wikipedia would put it; in essence, it's a euphemism for ... perhaps "BS". =p
It's very cryptic and difficult to understand. MM (talk!) 13:51, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm at a loss on what to do with them. [1] this also bothers me, but another user has been contributing to them. --GeoMike 16:58, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Frog in a Blender
Links please, Mike. Thanks. =) MM (talk!) 00:32, 15 July 2008 (EDT)
- What do you mean? There are links in the article and there is a link to it on the tournament decks page. --GeoMike 07:07, 15 July 2008 (EDT)
[edit] template:welcome
Something's wrong with the message-signing part. It just makes four tildes, but doesn't sign. Very odd.
If you edit the template itself and change it to sign, I think it'll change all the welcome templates to say GeoMike and the time of that edit. =/ What the heck?
I think manual signing is the way to go, Mike.
Cheers for your time. MM (talk!) 11:36, 31 July 2008 (EDT)
- Message signing with the button works for me. --GeoMike 10:58, 1 August 2008 (EDT)
- You two might want to read my comments here and review the instructions. Hope that clears things up. Oracle of Truth 20:29, 3 August 2008 (EDT)
- Guys, you might want to see this (gone; issue resolved)... I don't know what's going on, but that's a screen shot taken of Midniteeffort's user talk page (filename is time of screen capture). =/ It ... doesn't seem to work. I dunno. MM (talk!) 10:57, 4 August 2008 (EDT)
[edit] Rival/fellow wikis
Do you think it might be worthwhile to search out 'rival' or 'fellow' wikis?
MTG at Uncyclopedia, haha; although probably NSfW.
Do you recall whatever happened to DarkwingDuck/Wickeddarkman/FacelessWanderer/BirdMaiden and the wiki he went off to with his ideas and such?
Hm, have you ever considered defecting, Mike? ;p MM (talk!) 07:40, 14 August 2008 (EDT)
- I don't even look at magic articles on wikipedia because I don't want to be said that I'm stealing information from them. --GeoMike 07:54, 14 August 2008 (EDT)
- Heh, I think they're of a poorer quality, if we're talking end-result. :P
- By the way, much thanks for direct linking; you know, removing "set" from the links. MM (talk!) 03:32, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
- I've been trying to search out all (block), (deck) and (set)s as we've removed them from article names. Which makes article titles look cleaner for sure :) --GeoMike 06:49, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
- Searching out, not to copy-paste, but to check out. For comparative reasons. MM (talk!) 03:33, 15 August 2008 (EDT)

- Again, it is I "DarkwingDuck/Wickeddarkman/FacelessWanderer/BirdMaiden"+"flavortext" (I forgot my old passwords). One day the rival wiki was just gone! The owner was a soldier in the medic department, so he probably died at the front! I left a message above in the "Darkman department" It's a long time ago that I've touched this technology, so I'm outta touch with it and it's evolving routines :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flavortext (talk • contribs) 20 August 2008.
- Hey dude, (could you please indent using colons? :P). I think the guy who ran the wiki was Nathan J. Fealko, also known as Evil Betty. If that's the case, the dude's alive and well; not dead. That's grim. :-/ MM (talk!) 01:08, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
- Hey, it's Evil Betty. For some reason, the wiki engine just died on the other site I was running, and my webmaster never got around to fixing it. I've considered moving the information/organization over to Sally's Wiki whenever I get the time, since I'm far more involved with this site now than I was at the time. (Is not sure how to add a signature yet.)
- To add a signature, it is the second button on the right (which looks like a partial sig) above the edit window. And glad to have you on this site too. --GeoMike 16:47, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

- I get trigger-happy at times. Sign up an account, and my hormones won't get the better of me. :P (I'm joking.) MM (talk!) 13:08, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orggs
Why did you remove Category:Creature types from this article? --MORT (T) 11:44, 17 August 2008 (EDT)
- my mistake, meant to add a line break only and removed the category by mistake. --GeoMike 11:49, 17 August 2008 (EDT)
[edit] Pew, pew
Please bullet ("*") when adding external links; it makes a list thingo. Thanks, Mike, for your co-operation and understanding. :) See you later. MM (talk!) 08:51, 20 August 2008 (EDT)
- I know better - just a wittle mistake ;) --GeoMike 15:19, 20 August 2008 (EDT)
[edit] Vacation
I'm leaving for a vacation and will be gone from August 23rd - September 2nd. Part of the time I will be at DragonCon. I do not expect to have access to a computer at anytime on vacation. It will be good to "unplug". If you guys want the Feature Article of the Weeks to change while I'm gone then someone is going to have to change it. I've changed every article since the beginning, it will be good for someone else to give it a go. Be good. --GeoMike 06:32, 21 August 2008 (EDT)
- I'm back - and sick :( bleh. I can't believe noone changed the Article of the Week which has become the Article of 3 weeks now. --GeoMike 18:32, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
[edit] User:Murphy
This user's spamming and advertising on its own page. A 3-day block won't stop it from coming back, and clearly it hasn't understood the purpose of MtGS Wiki. Would you be able to delete the user's user page and usertalk page, and proceed to block it indefinitely? Twist.Jack 08:15, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- I wasn't trying to prevent them from coming back. I was sending a message that what they were doing wasn't a good idea. I wanted to see what they did after a 3-day block. --GeoMike 10:53, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Do you now want to drop the ban-hammer on Murphy? Twist.Jack 03:34, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think the idea is also to delete Murphy's pages on which it adspammed. Just sayin'. Twist.Jack 10:01, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- I forgot, MM likes to block them indefenitely to keep a record of who is blocked. --GeoMike 13:11, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Haven't stalked/lurked here lately. I tend to scalp them after their blocking; if and only if they're indefinitely blocked. For small things, we should get used to the habit of 24-hour blocks or something. I remember back when I was still a newbie sysop here, when blocks were 3-days long, just like the forum; at most, one person was blocked for such a duration, I believe. Eh, old days, good times. Anyway, we shouldn't really be using permanent blocks unless it's clearly adspamming, or something. MM (talk!) 05:47, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] All the small things
Tnx for fixing the redirect. :) MM (talk!) 16:43, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- We (the mods) look out for each other :) --GeoMike 18:20, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Pluralization of category names
:S Oh bother.
Perhaps we ought to amend that "product image" category now. MM (talk!) 03:02, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm ok with either way you think it should be, we should just be uniform - all singular or all plural. --GeoMike 03:03, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- An then there is the category called "book cover", should that become "book covers"? --GeoMike 03:05, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry for my inexperience
I accidentally modified The [Pack] page, and I think I've overwritten your changes, but I don't understand exactly what I've done. You talk about red links - what are they? --George 12:18, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Red links, if this (in "My preferences") is ticked, appear if there is an internal link in a page links to a non-existent (as of the moment of a page's drawing/loading) page. MM (talk!) 13:43, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- It was a easy fix, I wasn't criticizing - just fixing :) --GeoMike 19:05, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Move
The last month I've moved from an apartment to a house. I hope to have my things more organized in the coming weeks but with the holidays, who knows. Soon I will have all of my Magic cards in one place in a spare bedroom and I will begin to have a correct inventory of what I have. I'm just trying to explain my lack of participation on the wiki of late. --GeoMike 17:21, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Starter 2000 change
I don't see a reason for your change in the heading number. The sampler pack is not part of the box. Sloth 11:40, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Another idea, What about moving Starter 2000 from beginner sets to reprint sets, since that would be closer to what it really is. All the other beginner sets introduced new cards.Sloth 11:46, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought it was part of the box set. --GeoMike 00:09, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Comprehensive Rules
Hi, we really need a new approach to the rules articles, especially the template. Even before the Magic 2010 changes it was a mess, with citations from different versions floating around. As a reader there is no way to tell whether the rule in question was up to date and as an editor no way to tell which articles need to be updated. So, any ideas? Oracle of Truth 22:50, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- I agree, let me think on this some. --GeoMike 10:23, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe, while editting rule (sub)articles, we should mark them with the date of current edition of rules.--MORT (T) 15:50, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yup, I already did that on occasion. Is a date clear enough, or would it be better to note the newest expansion, i.e. "as of Magic 2010" instead of "as of July 8, 2009"? Or maybe both? And still, this does not help with finding out-of-date citations, one would have to check every single rules article. Oracle of Truth 17:13, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think I got it. In template:RulesTest Magic 2010 is given as current expansion. Test/1 shows an outdated example, Test/2 an up-to-date citation. I created a hidden category category:outdated, note that only the first test shows up. Now each release, all we have to do is change the if-expression in template:RulesTest, then check category:outdated. If you guys are ok with it, I'll move the template to template:CR. Oh and GM, sry for hijacking your talk page for this ;) . Oracle of Truth 17:40, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
