The Pack

The [Pack] is an active clan on MTG Salvation. The themes of the clan are all aspects of flavor in Magic: the Gathering. It is home to all Vorthos, players who appreciate flavor, artwork, and Magic: the Gathering novels. Other topics of discussion are music, literature and tabletop games.

On March 24 2008, Zaph and Skajetolaf started a thread in Testing Grounds to recruit members for the new clan. The clan became official on April 8. Zaph became the clan leader and Skajetolaf the clan representative.
On September 9 2008, Zaph and Skajetolaf decided that due to Skajetolaf's inability to be online very often, he should resign as the clan representative. This led to the nomination of Seth Dracovitch the same day, with general consent.
On February 3 2009, Zaph took over Seth Dracovitch's job as representative. The reason for this was Seth's lack of time to represent the clan during the upcoming Clan Contests.
On July 13 2009, Castle became the clan's new representative, with Zaph's new mod duties taking up more of his time.

The clan members consider themselves wild animals, and they consider the clan thread their den. The first post of each thread contains:

• The Clan's Motto: "Passions can't be shackled by laws or mastered with logic. The choice is freedom or death." — Volume IV, The Book of Fire, the flavor text of Words of War.
  
• The Clan's Anthem: Ain't Your Fairytale by Sonata Arctica
• The Furniture of The Den. With each new thread, the members can "raise money" to buy something new. Although this does not necessarily happen with each thread, there is a maximum of one item per thread. Currently, there is
  • A couch

• Statistics
  • A graphic that shows the clan members' interests ( notably, most of the members don't like the color blue )
  • A world map that shows the worldwide distribution of the members, along with a fictional story of their "Diaspora".

[edit] "Hierarchy"

The Pack has always used a kind of hierarchy. Originally, there were four main ranks: The first "rank" had no name and consisted of the clan founders. The second was called Hunters and consisted of all members that had been posting frequently since a certain amount of time. The third was called Cubs and consisted of all new members. A new member would only rise to the rank of Hunter once he or she had been posting frequently for a certain amount of time. "Promotion" was considered at each new thread. The fourth and final "rank" (still in use) is called Stray Lambs and consisted of all members who used to be Hunters or Cubs but had stopped posting.

There used to be a special rank listed just above the Hunters called The Flittering Clique. It consisted of the three users that joined the [Pack] during the Testing Grounds recruitment and all loved the Lorwyn Fae; Whisper (called "Whisper servant of Oona" back then), 3xTouched by Infinity and katsrevenge. They disbanded when 3xTouched by Infinity stopped posting and the other two started posting a lot less frequently.

The current hierarchy, officially in place since the clan's 9th thread started on May 9 2009, separates members into small groups, each with their own internal ranks. The first group is the Alpha group, and consists only of Zaph and Skajetolaf as clan founders. The other groups are Chargers, Pathcutters, Howlers, Maulers, and Prowlers. The last group, Prowlers, consists of members who rarely post, but haven't yet become inactive.

Below the members, there's a list of friends called "Omega" and a list of allied clans called "Live and Let Live".
