[edit] "Strictly better"
Surging Chaos is well-known throughout the community for his definition of "strictly better"; when card A is better than card B in every single possible situation that can ever happen in a game of Magic. Contrary to what many people think "strictly better" is, Surging Chaos argues the absolute, technical version of the phrase "strictly better". Surging Chaos cites theft spells such as Mindslaver or Misdirection that make inferior cards better than superior cards, thus invalidating a situation of "strictly better" ever exisiting in the game.
[edit] Clan affiliation
Surging Chaos was a former member of the clan House Dimir and left approximately a year and a half later after the clan was formed by Exalted Urza because of decreasing free time. Right now, Surging Chaos does not reside in a clan. He makes contributions all around the community especially in the Standard forums.
[edit] Biography
[edit] Magic
Surging Chaos started playing Magic The Gathering in 2001 at the time Odyssey was just released. He played casually up through Onslaught and started to become a competitive player at the beginning of Mirrodin. He loves to make his own decks from scratch or modify netdecks to his own liking. Surging Chaos also enjoys casual play and huge grand melees. Surging Chaos rarely plays online and prefers to play Magic in real life. His experiences with online Magic, mostly with MWS, have resulted in numerous disasterous rules arguments against his opponents over simple things such has mechanics, priority, and resolution of spells.
Surging Chaos's favorite decks are Mono Blue Control and Red Deck Wins. He currently plays Extended and Legacy and is not playing Standard at the moment because of his intense hate towards Shards of Alara (especially mythic rares).
[edit] Accomplishments
Surging Chaos has top 8ed two times in JSS tournaments at Portland; once in 2005 piloting a deck "Surging Chaos" (a custom Ponza build) and in 2006 piloting Gruul Aggro. This is where his user name was derived from. Surging Chaos has not received any awards at MTG Salvation.
