rancored_elf is a retired administrator and current global moderator at MTG Salvation. He moderates the Rumor Mill, and was once responsible for a considerable portion of the rumors posted in the Mill, prior to the Hasbro v. Rutter lawsuit; these days, he is still a passionate Rumor Mill poster, but he cannot disseminate rumors.

[edit] Breakaway from MTGNews
On January 1st 2005 he and many of his fellow moderators resigned from the MTGNews staff. His opportune arrival at MTG Salvation was key in the fast development of the site and started the great exodus of members from MTGNews. For a time, he took up the position of administrator to temporarily fill a vacancy in the three-admin system.

rancored_elf was a long-time member of the Called clan, until November, 2008, when he left the clan.[1]

rancored_elf has training in psychiatry but currently is running his own Magic singles website, www.rancoredelf.com.
[edit] Hasbro v. Rutter
In January, 2006, he became the respondent to a lawsuit by Wizards of the Coast, to reveal the names of internal sources at Wizards who leaked play-test cards for the upcoming Time Spiral set, in an incident that would become known as "Hasbro v. Rutter". The case was settled on April 7th, 2006; Wizards dropped the suit, in exchange that rancored_elf would never again reveal information of upcoming cards that had not been sanctioned by Wizards, and other undisclosed terms.[2]

He resigned as administrator to the post of global moderator. More recently, he resigned that position to moderator, and in May 2009 retired from staff altogether after 11 years. Nowadays he's an active member of MTG Salvation, a retired member of The Called, holds the "Best Moderator 2005" title in the 2005 MTG Salvation Forum Awards, and frequently posts in the Rumor Mill, Custom Card Creation, and other parts of the forums.
