[edit] Set details

Planar Chaos includes 165 all new cards including a 45 card "timeshifted" subset that are distributed in 15-card boosters including eight "normal" commons, three "timeshifted" commons, two "normal" uncommons, one "normal" rare and one "timeshifted" rare or uncommon card (there are three times as many "timeshifted" uncommon cards than there are "timeshifted" rare cards, making it three times as likely that an uncommon will appear in this slot).

The theme of this expansion is "the present"; to fit the theme of of the block, "time", each "timeshifted" card in this set (sometimes also called "colorshifted") is the same as a previously printed card except in a different color (and possibly with a different creature type, or referencing a different color or land type in its abilities).

[edit] Mechanics

Echo, flanking, flash, kicker, madness, morph are all keywords used in previous sets.

Split second, Suspend, Vanishing were introduced in Time Spiral.

[edit] Cycles

Planar Chaos has 10 cycles:

[edit] Trivia

Main article: Planar Chaos/Trivia
  • In keeping with the theme of alternate realities converging, Planar Chaos features numerous cards with abilities "usually" assigned to another color:
  • All three (red) split cards are part of a vertical cycle; they are the only split cards in Planar Chaos.
  • All non-rare creature with morph are blue.
  • All non-timeshifted cards with madness are black.
  • There are no artifacts in Planar Chaos.
