MTG Salvation Wiki:User page
From MTG Salvation Wiki
A user page is a web-based display of information relating to its author, sometimes including personal information for friends and others. User pages are usually associated with social networking web sites, such that they are a way for internet users to communicate to each other.

[edit] How to make a user page
This is a simple and effective guide that will hopefully teach you how to effectively make a neat, organized, and informative page for yourself in the wiki (found at http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/User:"WIKI USERNAME").
[edit] Member Information Box
In this section, you will learn how to use the "People Template" to effectively use the "Member Information Box". The following needs to be inserted at the very top of your user page:
{{People|
|image=
|aka=
|username=
|username-n=
|name=
|status=
|gender=
|birthday=
|joindate=
}}
Now, I'll explain the bits step-by-step.
[edit] Calling the template
All information inside the Member Information Box must be after the part of the code {{People| and before the closing }}. When used correctly, this tag calls up the People Template that allows for the Member Information Box to display correctly.
[edit] Image
This field sets the image that appears inside the Member Information Box. You must first upload the file on this server. REMEMBER THE NAME OF THIS FILE YOU CHOSE! Then, simply insert the filename right after "image=". Make sure you include the extension as well (for example: "ButteBlues.jpg").
[edit] Aka
Simply insert other names, including former MTG Salvation names, by which you are known into this field.
[edit] Username
Simply insert your MTG Salvation Wiki username into this field (it is suggested that this be the same as your MTG Salvation forums username). This will link to your user talk page.
[edit] Username-n
If applicable, simply insert your current MTG Salvation account's username into this field.
[edit] Name
You may choose to insert your name here.
[edit] Status
This field is for whatever ranks and positions you might hold on MTG Salvation and/or the Wiki (such as Wiki Admin/MTGS Wiki Administrator, (MTGS) Administrator, (MTGS) Moderator, (MTGS) World Project Leader, etc).
It is strongly recommended that you use the appropriate user status templates. These template will not only categorize you, but they will add the text and color automatically.
Manually (obsolete): If you wish to add color/style to the text so that it matches how it might appear on the forums or on the Wiki, use regular Wiki code. If you have multiple items in this field, it is suggested that you enter each on a seperate line, however, if you are adding more than one, do not repeat the |status= string. For example, the appropriate way to add Global Moderator and World Project Leader would be:
|name="Name goes here"
|status='''Global Moderator'''
<font color="blue">'''World Project Leader'''</font>
|gender="Gender goes here"
</s>
[edit] Gender
You may enter your gender here (male, female, or other).
[edit] Birthday
You may enter your birthday or birth date here.
[edit] Join Date
You may enter the date you joined the forums here.
[edit] Example
So, if we combined all that together, we should get something like this:{{People|
|image=image.jpg
|username=username
|name=name
|status=status
|gender=gender
|birthday=birthday
|joindate=join date
}}
Which would appear (note: the image will not appear as there is no image in the server with the name "image.jpg") as shown on the right.
[edit] Beyond the member information box
| Please help improve this article or section by expanding it. Further information might be found on the talk page. |
Once you are done with the member information box, feel free to add anything you would like. It is your page - as long as it is true, from a NPoV standpoint, and unobjectionable, it should work.
