Functional reprint
From MTG Salvation Wiki
Functional reprints serve the exact same function as the card they resemble, except they differ in name or name and subtype. This usually has little effect on the game, hence their consideration as a kind of reprint. Functional reprints do not often emulate powerful cards, as they effectively allow some constructed formats access to more than four copies of the same card. Functional reprints are often used to give a new block- or set-themed flavor to a card that plays an important role in defining a particular color.
Examples:
- Balduvian Bears has a different name from Grizzly Bears.
- Fyndhorn Elves has a different name from Llanowar Elves. (This fact allowed, at the time of Ice Age, there to be Type 2 decks that had 4 Fyndhorn Elves and 4 Llanowar Elves, a type of Stompy deck.)
- Raging Bull has a different name and creature type from Gray Ogre.
