Fetch lands
Fetch lands are a cycle of ten rare lands from Onslaught and Zendikar that can be sacrificed along with the payment of one life, to search the controller's library for a single land that has one of two basic land types specified on the card. In Onslaught, the land types are the land types of neighboring colors on the color wheel; they are: Flooded Strand (Plains and Island), Polluted Delta (Island and Swamp), Bloodstained Mire (Swamp and Mountain), Wooded Foothills (Mountain and Forest), and Windswept Heath (Forest and Plains). In Zendikar, the land types are the land types of opposite colors on the color wheel they are: Marsh Flats (Plains and Swamp), Scalding Tarn (Island and Mountain), Verdant Catacombs (Swamp and Forest), Arid Mesa (Mountain and Plains), and Misty Rainforest (Forest and Island).
Fetch lands are associated with the theory of deck thinning, and are an improved version of a similar cycle from Mirage that consists of: Flood Plain (Plains and Island), Bad River (Island and Swamp), Rocky Tar Pit (Swamp and Mountain), Mountain Valley (Mountain and Forest), and Grasslands (Forest and Plains).
