A variety of sea serpent, the devouring deep is a baleful creature of the ocean.

In Magic continuity, a devouring deep was under the command of the wizard Coldraith of Golthonor. In the year 1281 by the Reckoning of the Sages of Minorad, the creature attacked people led by the Marked Cleric. Caliphear the Nightmare and Altair of Coloni forced it to reveal its master was Coldraith. The devouring deep was afraid of merfolk assassins.
