Deck descriptions
From MTG Salvation Wiki
There are many ways to describe a deck, some of them are listed below. They are also related to your strategy, but there are some minor differences.
Contents |
[edit] Terminology
[edit] Splash
Having a small amount of spells and lands that deal with a specific color, but is a minority color-wise in comparison to the other color(s) that exist in a deck.
[edit] Mana curve
[edit] Figuring out the mana curve
- Add each spell's mana cost together, then divide by the amount of cards in the deck.
[edit] Mana distribution
[edit] Figuring out the mana distribution
- Add each spell's mana cost together to get A
- Add the possible mana production of each card to get B. (for example, if it produces C or D, add 1. If it produces CD, then add 2)
- Then divide by the amount of cards or lands in the deck.
[edit] Focus
[edit] Colors
[edit] Mono- or single-color
- uses only one color.
- pros:
- always have the mana you need for your spells.
- cons:
- lacks diversity.
- expensive to do out-of-color abilities.
[edit] Multicolor
- uses more than one color, though not always evenly.
- pros:
- draws from multiple sources for strategies.
- cons:
- has a chance of getting many spells of one or more colors, but not get the land you need.
[edit] Five color
uses each color evenly.
- pros
- same as multicolor, plus:
- use many elements from many colors.
- cons
- same as multicolor, plus:
- restricted to certain inter-color strategies.
[edit] Color-less focused
Mainly uses artifacts and lands. Can use a splash of other colors.
- pros
- almost alway have the land you will need.
- cons
- almost every strategy will be more expensive, (See: Cost descriptions).
