[edit] Mortal life
Born as an albino Nacatl and therefore "white as death", as his fellow Nacatl saw him, Ajani was an outcast. The only one that accepted him was his brother Jazal, the leader of the pride. In fact, his brother was the sole reason Ajani was tolerated at all.
Ajani's magic relies on having allies around him. His spells are depicted on Soul's Grace, Soul's Fire and Soul's Might for instance.[2]
One night Ajani's pride is attacked and his brother murdered. The trail of the unknown assassin of his brother leads him out of Naya. The leonin took up his brother's weapon, fused it with his own to create his double-bladed axe, and vowed to avenge his kin and reform the pride.
Since then Ajani struggles in an inner conflict between justice and revenge.
| “ | Ajani Goldmane is a planeswalker who wields both white and red magic. His new focus is magic of vengeance: spells that punish wrongdoers and lay waste to his enemies.[1] | ” |
[edit] Planeswalker
On the night of his brother's murder Ajani ascended and wound up in Jund. There he met Sarkhan Vol, who protected him from the dragon Karrthus and showed him how to planeswalk back to Naya.
[edit] Alara Unbroken
The upcoming novel, Alara Unbroken will feature Ajani as one of its protagonists.[3]
[edit] Represented in cards
In Magic continuity, though it appeared in a later set, Ajani Vengeant depicts a younger Ajani.[4]
