- Avacyn Restored is the third set in the Innistrad block. It is the fifty-eighth expansion for Magic. Prerelease Events took place April 28-29, 2012 and Launch Parties took place May 4-6, 2012. Game Day will be on May 25-26, 2012.
- Avacyn Restored continues the storyline of the Innistrad block and is set on the plane of Innistrad. It is a large set with 244 cards and thus exceeds the usual amount of cards in the third set of a block. It is comparable to Rise of the Eldrazi as it represents a mechanical reboot in the same setting. Avacyn Restored, unlike Innistrad and Dark Ascension is not graveyard-based. It contains no cards with flashback and also no double-faced cards.
- The set introduces a special card frame for the Miracle mechanic, which provides a visual cue in order to identify them easier and be in a position to cast them with the correct timing. Cards with Miracle have radiant spokes on the frame around the art and the name box, and the name box has an arrow-like outcropping on top.
